How to get more DJ gigs (Promo Tools, Part 1)
Updated: Sep 16, 2019
How to get MORE DJ gigs is one of the MOST asked questions we get daily. In this series we will show you lots of ways to get more DJ gigs on a consistent basis. One way is business cards...
Even though most DJs have business cards to promote their DJ business, most get it completely WRONG!
What do I mean by that? What I mean is they end up using the crappy, cheesy, over-used templates provided by printing companies. And then to make matters worse, they end up not only using the template everyone else has used (and has access to), but they also get the cheapest printing option available, which looks like CACA (means in poop in Spanish)!
Being economical is one thing, but getting the cheapest of the cheap does not give off a good expression- so why get the cheapest? If you're doing gigs and making some money, re-invest a bit of that into a high-quality custom design and better printing to make your DJ business cards stand out.
If you want to stand out from the competition, be BETTER!
Being better means finding different ways to sound different in your mixing style (but still be able to play the hits), be professional, and have custom made branding for your DJ brand- starting with custom designed business card designs. Other ways to help you brand yourself is to have a custom DJ logo, a professional website for your DJ business, and stickers, t-shirts, or other giveaways to give to your clients or prospective clients.
These days it is easier than ever to find good graphic artists to make your business card design, so using the same ol' dried-up template is not acep. There's also places online where you can find graphic artists for cheap!
Check out some samples of custom designs below. They are professional and custom made to the DJs style, and meant to stand out from the rest (NO templates used!).
To be clear, the idea is to NOT go for the lowest hanging fruit and use a pre-made template for your DJ business cards. Instead, find a graphic artist online or offline to create something professional and original- to make yours stand out from the rest. You can get recommendations from friends and family, or go to Upwork.com, or anyone who does design for a living.
